Sturdy, beautifully made, and easy to use once you know the trick!
I love this drying rack! The quality is excellent solid maple wood, very sturdy, and it folds up nicely for easy storage. It looks great too, much nicer than the flimsy metal ones I’ve used before.I did see a few people mention trouble with getting the lever part to stay in place. Just a tip, you do have to use a bit of force the first time to snap it in. You’ll hear it “click” when it’s secure, and after that it’s super easy to fold and unfold.Perfect for drying sweaters, linen sheets, or delicates. Highly recommend and worth every penny!

It is solid wood, very well made, made in the USA, sturdy
I was looking for a wooden drying rack-not bamboo, not pot metal, not plastic-I wanted wood. You used to be able to get cheap ones but I guess that is a thing of the past. Even though this is a somewhat pricey solution, I feel it is worth that price. The dowels are 3/4 inch solid maple. My wood working mate said he couldn’t get the materials for the price I paid for this unit. It is made in the USA and comes fully assembled. You just pop it open and lock down the top. It is sturdy, not at all like the flimsy cheapo units I used to have (and donated with many other things when I moved). I have it set up in my laundry room and expect to get many years of use out of it.

Durable for Outdoor Use
I love it! I have now used this drying rack every two days (mostly outdoors) for a little over a year in humid, hot TX and it has held up beautifully. Also, we are not super gentle on it. My baby loves to drag it around the house as a walking aid and it doesn’t break or fall/collapse. I wouldn’t use any other brand now. This is pricey compared to other ones out there but GREAT quality and so worth it! Durable and sturdy. If you’re hesitant, GET IT!

EXCELLENT DRYING RACK!
I’ve been using a small 29 inch wide clothing rack for a long time but really needed something bigger. I don’t like to use the dryer because clothes last longer when they air dry and I save a ton of money, not using the electric dryer as much. Plus I want to reduce energy use when I can.I was so hyped to find these clothes drying racks by Pennsylvania Woodworks.First, I was amazed that I even found racks as large as the ones they sell. I was really tempted to get the largest one, but I knew that I could still use my small rack and decided to go with the size XL.It’s nothing short of perfection. The craftsmanship is remarkable. The quality is top notch. The wood is beautiful unfinished maple. It’s gorgeous. These are handcrafted. The wooden dowels are thick as is the wood all around. There’s no assembly required. The best thing about it is it works well. At 40 inches wide, I can put two shirts side-by-side, two pair of work pants, and all other necessary items in between. The key is not to space everything together because the clothes need ventilation in order to dry.On dry days when I do my laundry, I open up windows and the clothes are dry within about 3 to 5 hours on this drying rack. Even faster on windy days. Remove your dry clothes from the drying rack when they’re dry and allow the rack to thoroughly dry before putting wet clothes on it again. To anyone on the fence about spending the money on these racks- just do it. It’ll be worth every penny. When you first get the rack, you have to wipe down each dowel with a damp cloth. This is unfinished wood and there might be a little dust on it when you first get it.Don’t think about finishing the wood. There’s a reason they don’t put a finish on these drying racks. Google it and you’ll see why.I know that some people have said their clothes stained using these racks, but you cannot put soaking wet clothes on them. Make sure your clothes are thoroughly drained of water. If clothes feel heavy when you take them out of the washing machine, put them back in and do an extra drain and spin. Then before you put them on the rack, shake out each one and place them on there.I’m very satisfied with my purchase. Definitely recommend Pennsylvania Woodworks. I had a few questions and the seller was more than happy to provide answers to me. Very good doing business with them and will recommend to my other friends and family who are looking for ways to reduce energy use while making their clothes last longer. Thanks, Pennsylvania Woodworks!———-Here are a few tips on how I dry my sheets and towels quicker since those require the dryer:When I dry my sheets, I put a dry bathtowel in the dryer for 17 minutes, remove the towel at 17 minutes- and usually by then the sheets are dry, if not, I let them go for another seven minutes on low without the towel and that’s it.For towels, I only dry the bath towels that we use on our bodies, all the rest air dry, and to make them soft, once they’re dry, I put them in the dryer for four minutes to soften them up.

Best quality and STURDY as all get out!
XL is HUGE FYI. Quality is amazing! Looks great! USA made. No assembly required. Holds a LOT including towels, heavy work pants, light sweaters etc. It’s solid wood…so obviously won’t rust…but Amazon review “ideas” says to comment about rust 😆

Good clothes rack
I used to have a couple of big wooden clothes racks like this right from Lancaster, PA. I received them as gifts so I don’t know how much they cost back in the day. I downsized my living situation and gave one away, but now I wanted to have a second one again. They are big and sturdy so you can hang up lots of clothes to dry and the air can get to them. Not like the small, cheap plastic and metal versions you find in most stores. Winter air here up north gets very dry so it is nice to air dry clothes to help keep the indoor humidity a little higher. These big racks are especially good for blankets that would get beat up if you were to put them in the dryer instead. I bought this item thinking it would be even bigger than the ones from way back when (based on it being described as “X-Large” online), but it’s actually the same size. It’s a good product and I’m glad that I have it. I’m just surprised how expensive it is. I feel like it should be closer to $60 instead of $140. It’s a clothes rack, not a luxury item. That’s the way I look at it anyway. It’s made of hardwood and is apparently handcrafted, so those are probably the reasons for the price. If you can afford it and have space for it in your home, it is so much better than the small cheap drying racks you find in most stores. Sure, in a lot of places you can just run a clothes line outside. But I have allergies so I don’t want pollen and whatever else getting into my clothes and bedding. I use these indoors where I have better control over my air quality. If I’m going to have company over I just fold them up and put them away.

Buy one, you won’t be sorry
Pennsylvania woodworks drying racks are wonderful. This rack will last for longer than I probably will. It is beautifully made, sturdy, and perfect for my needs.

When I bought one in 2020 this was still expensive – but at a third of the price today. What happened? I wanted to buy another one and I’m not going to save any money spending $500 on a wood drying rack. $500 is a lot of money and needed for food and gas these days.As for the quality – top notch. Did everything it was supposed to do. Was an excellent investment for the pre-covid price. Now it’s hard to justify. But if you are wealthy, support this local business and buy one. They do good work.

This dryer was a beautifully made piece. It is functional and very stable. It is so well crafted and I love the way it locks together. It reminds me of the craftsmanship of my grandmother’s era. I will literally never need to buy another clothes drying rack. Well worth the money – and more stable and durable than the plastic/wire versions. I bought the large and I can fit two loads of drying on it. It stores easily. Very happy with this purchase.

Fantastic laundry hanger, as described nice and thick Maple construction. Could be bigger but I knew that when I bought it as the dimensions are clear. Solid construction, only complaint I had was they ship the folded down rack in a plastic bag in a box (good so far) but when you try to remove the bag one side has been stuck to the rack with a super strong double sided tape? Completely unnecessary. I had to break out the hair dryer and scrape that tape off. That was a pain in the Tush.
