Excellent TV! Excellent bang for the buck!👍
I seldom review items outside of the Amazon Vine program, but I was so impressed with this TV and the deal I got, I just HAD to. I got it on sale. A $300.00 50″ TV for $169.00! Pretty hard to complain! It’s not difficult to find a new TV for that price… but not at this size and of this quality. THE GOOD: It provides a crisp, beautiful, crystal clear picture that you would expect to see on a much more expensive unit. Menus are easily navigated, and controls are easy to use. The “OS” (for lack of a better term) is attractive and easy to use. Their audio leveling works better than on any other TV I’ve used (whispers can be heard, and explosions don’t rattle your teeth). I’ve still never seen a flat screen TV at ANY price point with decent sounding onboard speakers, but these are among the best I personally have experienced (if you care about good sound quality, you’ll still probably want to use your own external audio). I’m using the feet that were included, instead of a wall mount. They were easy to install, and much more stable than the ones on my last 2 TVs. THE BAD: It is my opinion that it could use a little more processing power. It takes an unusually long time to move between menus and screens, change channels, load movies, etc. (not that big of a deal, but it’s a fact). As mentioned… menus are clear and easily navigated… but I can’t find bluetooth controls anywhere. In fact… I can’t find anything anywhere that indicates that this TV even HAS bluetooth. I’ve been looking for it since I saw it mentioned in other reviews, but can’t find it (it’s hard to imagine that it DOESN’T in this day & age). It seems like all TVs have some kind of proprietary sound enhancing software onboard. This one has “DTS Virtual-X Sound: An immersive sound format creates a three-dimensional sound experience with your TV’s speakers”. As is always the case… they’re WAY overselling it. As with most flat screen TVs… the onboard speakers are little more than “adequate”, and completely incapable of sounding “immersive”, regardless of whatever technology you shove into them. Something I personally loathe about new TVs, is where they place the inputs, and how they label them. They’re always situated where they’re easy to see and read from the BACK of the TV. The problem is… the back of the TV is a few inches off the wall, and moving it around is a hassle. TV manufacturers need to put the inputs near the edges of the TV so they’re easy to find & reach, and labeled perpendicular to the TV, so they’re legible while peering around from the front (BTW… it is my opinion that ALL TVs, regardless of size or price, should have a regular headphone output jack. They’re ridiculously inexpensive for the manufacturer, and open up a lot of audio options when others fail). Regarding the remote… the trend these days seems to be smaller and smaller remotes with curved backs and slippery surfaces, making them difficult to hold on to, and impossible to operate with the remote sitting anywhere but in your hand. This one’s no exception. Finally… in the instructions and on the back of the unit, they were careful to label everything so it was easy to locate, set up, and use. I don’t know if it was supposed to be a joke or what… but they hid the point on the back of the TV where you plug the in the power cord, and they left it unlabeled on the back of the TV AND in the paperwork. I felt and looked all around the edges & the back. It took me a solid 10 minutes of looking before I found it. They did a weird “cut in” in a weird location on the back. The cut-in was easy to see, but the fact that it was functional was not. The power cord plugs in vertically, so the socket is hidden. If they’d label it, as they label the HDMI inputs etc., there would be no question at all. Also… the cut-in is too small, so the plug is difficult to insert. It’s equally difficult to tell when it’s completely inserted. You really have to kinda jam the cord in there, and there’s a fair amount of pressure on the plug at all times. If/when the TV quits working, I’d wager right now, that THAT will be the reason. Horrible design flaw that should be easy for the manufacturer to fix. The “goods” definitely outweigh the “bads”, and I strongly recommend this TV to anyone shopping for one!👍

Excellent TV
Great TV and for the price I got it for (169.99$ marked down from 299.99$ for black Friday sales), it was absolutely worth it. The picture is very clear and the sound is great. My room is not too big and and not too small, and the 50″ screen is perfect size for my room. Easy to set up and connect to online services. Streaming capability is great, as it has many streaming apps you just download. I love this TV and recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable 4K tv

My first 55-inch TV and it works great
I have several 32-inch smart TVs and a 75-inch one, but this is my first 55-inch TV. The price was great at $206, the lowest I could find. During the online purchase, I had two options of having it delivered to my house in 4 or 5 days, or picking it up at Best Buy the next day. Duh. Obviously, I chose the latter option. Picking it up was totally simple. They had it ready, and I just needed to load it into my car. I have a little Nissan Versa 4-door sedan, and the salesmen inside Best Buy sort of shook their heads when I asked them if it would fit. However, after opening the back windows and nudging the large box up and down and sideways in my back side floor, I finally got both doors shut all the way and made it home OK.Getting it out of the box and onto my huge desk required muscle and ingenuity. I’m a 5′ 9″ weightlifter and so placing it on the desk was not really a problem, but it might be too heavy for some people. Setup was one of the smoothest and easiest in a long time. I first connected the wifi to my upstairs modem, and after entering the modem name and password, it successfully connected in a couple of seconds. Establishing my other services was just as quick and easy. First was adding my Amazon Prime Video and then my YouTube Premium accounts. The TV gave several options. I chose the remote option to just type in the passwords and stuff. It’s been 24 hours, and its hard to remember exactly what I did. I think I used the pictured icon to take a picture of with my iPhone camera to set up the Amazon account. Yea, that’s right. Then my phone got a Bing, and I had to say “yes” to accept. It showed the 6-digit code which matched the one on the TV. So, hit “yes,” and then Amazon Prime Video was successfully installed on my new TV. I think I had to do another routine to set up my YouTube Premium. I had to go to my computer and type in “youtube/code” or something like that. I can’t remember the entire process. I had to either type in the code in either my computer or my TV or else just accept it as I did with the Amazon steps. Either way, it was simple and logical, and fast and easy. In an amazing time of about 10 or 15 minutes, my TV was totally hooked up and ready for watching videos.I already have a couple or more Insignia TVs which are 32-inch. They have worked for me for several years now without any problems. This particular 55-inch TV is great. I would buy another one.

it’s good!
It looks blurry if not at least 1440p or whatever that number is, and even more blurry with 1080. Very disappointing. However, the size for the price is really really great imo. This is a bitrate fixing lack of technology, which you cannot fix. I don’t think it’s horrible but would not buy again. Some settings like being able to always keep the TV on is missing (confirmed). I don’t want to have to play a video nonstop in order for some light. But other than those, sound is great, brightness is awesome and it timely responds to the remote, much better than my last TV.

Well well worth the money, HD is spectacular,so Chrisp, clear, colorful
It’s much easier to see the TV and what’s on…Ive wanted a 50inch for 3 years…the color is beautiful and crisp HD picturesque…It’s on the wall and can be seen from my bedroom which is right next to room with my new rug, couch and 50 inch TV.I feel so at home with my newly made living room. I hated watching TV cause I only had a 32 inch and my glasses been broke for 5 months….I got compliments about how it was designed…
