Fantastic Quality, Effortless Setup, and Near-Perfect
This is an excellent product. The light quality is fantastic, and the build quality feels very premium. I also appreciate how the 150-foot length is divided into five 30-foot segments, which makes planning the installation much more convenient. What I Love:Effortless Setup: I was blown away by how easy it was to add these lights to my Hue account and connect them to my bridge. It was completely seamless—no button pressing on the bridge or the product was required!Brightness & Wall Wash: These lights are impressively bright and produce a beautiful, high-quality wall wash effect that really makes the house pop.Backward Compatibility: Philips has done a great job maintaining backward compatibility. My old Zigbee-based Hue lamps from 2016 are able to serve as extenders for these new lights without any issues.Installation Flexibility: I really appreciate that you can complete the entire physical installation before adding the lights to your Hue account. This takes the pressure off and lets you focus on getting the placement right.Impressive AI Assistant: The Hue AI assistant works surprisingly well. I asked it to create a scene for a festival that isn’t a major one, and it generated a dynamic scene that was both relevant and high-quality. I look forward to this feature improving even further, hopefully by identifying the specific light products in a room to create even better-tailored scenes. One Small Caveat:The T-Connector that comes with the standard “Philips Hue 8ft extension cable” is NOT compatible with this product. This is a significant limitation. It means you cannot, for example, have one horizontal segment (like along a roofline) flow into two separate vertical segments (like one going up a gable and one going down). The connectors simply will not attach in that scenario. As a workaround, you can make the light strip take a U-turn. This forces you to run two lines of lights back-to-back, which could be strategically used for a unique “doubled-up” ambiance in some spots. However, it’s not ideal, as you end up “wasting” lights on the return path (e.g., going up a gable and immediately back down) just to maintain the continuous connection. This seems like a major oversight for a premium, modular system. Philips should really introduce a compatible T-Connector for this specific “Festiva” product line to allow for more creative and complex installations.Another minor issue is with the extension cables. While these lights are available in both white and black (I purchased the white ones), I was only able to find the official Hue extension cables in black. This can be an aesthetic issue if you need an extension and are trying to match the white light strips.Overall:I highly recommend these lights for their quality, brightness, and incredible ease of use. However, be sure to plan your layout carefully and understand that you are limited to continuous, single-line connections (or forced U-turns) until a T-connector is made available.

Quality
These are well constructed; quality mounting screws (I used screws not the 3M adhesive option) and sturdy wiring. The lights also feel well built and substantial. The light quality is excellent from light to light with no visible variation. The system can create various color shades and transitions from color to color smoothly. It creates shades of white light extremely well and was pleasantly surprised by its light output. If you currently use the hue system it’s a very easy addition to that system. I’m also very happy with how difficult it is to see these lights when it’s daytime and they’re off as they’re small units with flat cabling between. I wanted the lights but didn’t want to look like I have Christmas lights up all year and this achieved my goals.

Looks fantastic when on or off!
My only complaint is that each cord segment is 30 feet. I understand that for a majority of roofs, it works, but not for small gables. It looks great though and well hidden during the day.

Not worth it at any price
Philips Hue is not worth it at any price. Defective connections. Can’t buy parts. Philip did not test their product and ruched it out to for holiday season without working out the bugs. Buy Govee lights. Extremely hard to put install so I would not call them permanent outdoor lights.

The Permanent Lights Worth Waiting For
These lights are everything I expected and more. The 50 lumens makes all the difference in the brightness of these lights. The spacing is perfect and the color quality is amazing.I went back and forth between other competitors lights but already having a significant amount of hue lights on my house made these more appealing. We were able to stick the lights up with no problem. It was helpful because we were able to make some adjustments to the layout before we used the included screws. We spaced the lights about 3-1/2″ on center from the inside wall on the soffit. I really like how much they wash the wall with color. My pictures show our Halloween set up. I’m excited to change them for more holidays. I purchased them on sale which was well worth waiting for. I hope hue decides to sell them in the 60 ft length and sell add on strips without the power supply.I’m definitely doing the rest of the house with these lights.

Great addition to the Hue ecosystem
I’m already heavily invested in the Philips Hue ecosystem for indoor lighting, so their permanent outdoor lights were a great addition. I got them for $200 off for Black Friday which helped ease the financial blow. Took me close to 7 hours to install the 150-foot strand around 3 sides of the house. I designed and 3D printed an installation guide to help maintain consistent offset from the house. The colors are great and it’s easy to create simple color scenes. I have automations set up so that the lights turn on at sunset and turn off later in the night. The shortcoming is with the current pre-built scenes and creation of custom scenes. The app is currently limited in the kinds of scenes you can make, with all of the pre-built scenes only allowing the selection of one color. You can create a standard scene with up to 5 colors that can alternate as part of a “dynamic” scene.Overall I recommend these lights if you’re already in,or looking to start your Philips Hue setup. They’re not the best bang for your buck, but if they’re anything like Philips’ other products, they should last a long time. Hopefully they add more functionality to the lights in the future.

I purchased the 150’ string thinking I could do the top and bottom of the front of my house. The instructions show starting both roofs at the opposite end of where the power would be. Unfortunately the kit does not come with any sort to “tee or y” fitting to connect both sides of the strings. I reached out to Phillips help desk and have not heard back about what options I have. From everything I’ve read online Phillips currently does not make any extensions or y connections for thier 3 prong wire system. I even ordered 3rd party fittings ( Govee) but they were not the correct diameter and had to be returned. For almost $1000 purchase you would expect the kits to come with whatever you need or at the very least better customer service…. If I could go back in time I would take a serious look at their competitors products before pulling the trigger on this purchase. I have my whole house on the Hue product line so I figured hue permanent Christmas lights made sense.
