Polk Audio Never Disappoints – Amazing Outdoor Speakers! 🔊☀️
I bought a **pair of Polk Audio Atrium 8 SDI speakers** for my **back patio expansion**, and they have been **nothing short of incredible**! The **beautiful design** blends seamlessly with my outdoor space, and they are built to withstand the elements.I paired these with a **SunFire amp**, and the **sound quality is simply awesome**—rich, clear, and powerful, even in an open outdoor environment. Mounting was **easy**, and the build quality feels **top-notch**, exactly what I expect from Polk Audio.I’ve been a **Polk Audio fan for almost 40 years**, and their **reputation for quality and durability** is well-earned. I still have an **older set in my garage that’s over 20 years old**, and they still sound fantastic—**which is exactly why I chose Polk again**!If you’re looking for **high-quality outdoor speakers** that will last, these are a no-brainer. **Highly recommend!** 🎶🔥

    Decent Sound for the $$$
I got these as well as a pair of Atrium 5s to compare. I set both pair up with my indoor McIntosh Pre and Amp and auditioned them for a few hours. The bass on the 5s had a sort of artificial sound lacking definition. The 6s sounded really solid and reasonably flat with the Tone controls bypassed on the pre-amp. I liked the compact size of the 5s and they would have been easier to mount under the eaves on my deck to replace some worn out Mirage speakers I had that sounded great. But I was worried about the bass. The 6s are much heavier and larger and more expensive. But I think they are worth it. Once I got them installed and played a set of tunes I use for setting up speakers (Fagen / The Night Fly, etc), the reinforced bass, with them now much closer to the wall than they were inside, was a lot. Now connected to a nice Marantz Pre and Amp, I may need to cut the bass and treble 2-3db to get a flatter response. The A6 can cover a large area and deliver plenty of bass. I don’t like over the top bass and prefer a flatter audiophile EQ, and these do that easily. I think the A5s may have worked, but the character of the bass sounded odd, so I never mounted them outside to try. Even reinforced by the wall, I don’t think I would have liked them as much.Beyond that, they were fairly easy to mount – the brackets have notched detents, so they don’t spin freely, which is nice – my old Mirages used to sag after a while.Overall, the sound seems mid-range weak, bright, and a little bassy. My old Mirage speakers sounded better, but they are no longer made. That said, I think I can dial them in pretty well with the treble and bass controls on the pre-amp.

Nice build quality, but muddy sound
I was looking for a pair of speakers to use outside primarily for music, but also to serve as speakers for my TV outside and originally went with a pair of YAMAHA NS-AW194BLs. Unfortunately they were not the sound I was looking for so I also bought a pair of Polk Atrium 4s and OSD AP525s to compare. Ultimately I found the OSDs to be the right combination of sound and build quality. More detailed review below:Price: At the time of purchase the OSD and Yamahas retailed for the same price of $120 while the Polks were $154, but I was able to get them openbox for $107.Build quality: Build quality is more important than usual since these will be outside and uncovered.3. Yamahas: The Yamahas were by far the lightest, even lighter than the Polks there have a smaller speaker and overall box size. Additionally, this one looked like it would be the least weather resistant which is backed up by its IP33 rating. The speaker connect via a spring clamp which probably offers a bit more protection than exposed speaker posts, but not much. The mounting is fine.2. Polks: The Polks feel solid and are probably the best looking of the speakers. They are also the smallest. They don’t provide an IP rating, but from looks alone I would say they are close, but not as good as the OSDs. The speaker posts are exposed. The mounting is fine.1. OSDs: Very solid feeling with a good heft; these seem like they would hold up much better than the Yamahas and probably a bit better than the Polks. These have an IP Rating of 54 which is significantly better than Yamaha’s of IP33. Also, they have removal a panel that covers the speaker posts which gives me a lot more confidence with these being outside. The mounting options are very good.Sound: What you are probably most concerned about. I tested all 3 pairs of speakers by connecting them to an Arylic B50 which was connected to my TV through an HDMI cable. I then tested music through the Youtube Music app on the TV.3. Yamaha: these had the clearest highs… almost too high, but the real problem was they just sounded extremely tiny. Like way tinier than 5.25″ speakers should sound. Not only was there no bass, but it sounded like you were listening through a tin can.2. Polks: the Polks sounded better overall with more bass and mids, but weren’t nearly as clear on the high. In fact, they were not very clear at all with the overall sound being muddy.1. OSDs: I was actually a little disappointed in the OSDs at first, but after tweaking the equalizer I was able to get them to sound much better than either the Yamahas or Polks (don’t worry, I played with the equalizer for them too). At first the bass was missing but after tweaking the EQ they showed up and the bass, mids and highs were all clearer than the Polks and the bass and mids were much improved on the Yamahas (the Yamaha highs were clearer, but may have been too bright).Summary:The OSD were the clear winners as the perfect goldielocks of sound (not too bright or too muddy), price (same price as Yamahas and cheaper than Polks), weather resistants (objectively better than the Yamahas and subjectively better than the Polks) and mounting (the OSDs allow the most mounting angles/orientation).The one minor quibble I have with the OSDs is that the black speakers have a white OSD logo that really stands out and detracts from its looks.Note: I also tried some Pyle Active/Passive speakers but those really sounded terrible.

I loved these speakers when I got them. I listened to music every opportunity I had.To my disappointment the tweeters stopped working and now sound dull and nasty. These speakers are rated 100 Watts. My Bluetooth amp is maxed at 75 watts with its current power supply. So can polk audio please explain why my tweeters are blown within 8 months of purchase. So much for all the research I did. I’ve never had tweeters blow on me. Now I’m trying to find replacement tweeters with no luck after searching Internet for a day.mlike how hard does this need to be.

I purchased the white Polk Atrium 6 speakers after comparing several brands including Bose and Yamaha. As an aside, I am predisposed to purchase Bose first (I still rock my Bose 901s), but the price point and reviews for Polk’s Atrium 6 were unbeatable. As it turns out, I am very pleased with my purchase. The Atrium 6 speakers were very easy to install single handedly, and fit perfectly under the soffit that is overtop of my outdoor deck. They compliment my decor and trim, which is also white. Sound-wise, they play a nicely balanced bass and treble with no equalization, and the sound projects quite well into the yard when the volume is turned up. Their construction seems to be rock-solid and made with quality materials. I think they will last quite some time. I do believe the tonal balance is sensitive to placement, and the closer the speakers are mounted to a back wall or overhang (they are ported speakers), the stronger the bass will be – this is quite well explained in the installation instructions and for my taste, installing them against a back wall and under an overhand provides a very good tonal balance at moderate sound levels. Once again, for the price I paid, this speaker is truly hard to beat, and I can definitely recommend them for outdoor listening.

Had these speakers out on my deck under a roof. They have been going great. The front metal grills are showing some corrosion but we are about 100m from the sea, but otherwise all good.
